Bruce T. Sumpter of Mortgage South Lending, Inc.
Bruce T. Sumpter a native of Columbia SC is the
President/CEO of Mortgage South Lending Inc. He
grew up in the Columbia housing project of Allen
Benedict Court and is an alumnus of A.C. Flora
High School. He resides here in Columbia with
his wife, Jackquline, their children Ashley,
Bruce Jr. (AKA T.J.) and nephew Zeuxis.
With a twenty plus award winning year career in
the newspaper industry behind him the mortgage
business was a natural fit. After all, he with
the help of his mother purchased his first home
at the age of nineteen. Learning early the
importance of maintaining good credit.
After retiring from the State Newspaper Sumpter
started a new career in the mortgage industry
here in Columbia. Using the leadership skills he
acquired being the first Lead Inserting Machine
Operator for the State Newspaper, Sumpter
quickly rose through the ranks to become the
General Manager of that company in less than
three years.
Realizing that a lot of people didn’t understand
what they were getting when they got a mortgage
loan. He wanted to help even more by educating
the general public about the mortgage loan
process and high cost loans.
Trusting in his ability he started Mortgage
South Lending Inc. in 2002 and already his
customers will tell you the amount of trust they
have in him. One customer has referred to him as
“The hardest working man in the mortgage
business.” He is one of only a few brokers that
spoke at one of the NAACP meeting on Predatory
Lending and had meetings at the State House with
Senators regarding the issue.
